Water products like this will corrode and self-destruct eventually as mine did because the water is in contact with the brass. The very best material would be stainless steel.

(More customer reviews)I got one of these units for Christmas from my wife. And after about 1.5 months of use we couldn't be happier. This unit reduced our PPM's from 600 to 80. Our Arrowhead bottled water came in at 150-ppm's. The water tastes great and the system works like a charm!
The permeate pump is definitely the ticket. The pressure coming out of the RO tap is excellent and the recharging of the system is very rapid. It does make a clicking or thumping sound when the permeate pump is recharging the system. I'd rather it was quiet, however after doing quite a bit of research I feel the permeate pump is the best overall solution to increasing the out-flowing water pressure, as well as, permitting the membrane to function optimally.
Note: I had some shipping damage to the unit, but the supplier included so many extra fittings and such that I was able to fix the damaged parts myself and get the system up and running without having to wait for parts to be sent.
Stop buying bottled water and get one of these units now! You will not be sorry. Seriously, you will wonder why you've been buying bottled water all this time. You'll never want to pay for bottled water again once you taste this water and realize it's now costing you a few penny's per gallon to produce.

Compact III 5 Stage Review

(More customer reviews)I got this for the office to use instead of bottled water. I have one at home (different manuf. but almost same setup) so I know I like the water much better than the tap, or even most bottled water. The installation instructions were a bit skimpy, but if you've done pumbing before and understand the idea of how the 6 filters of this RO systen works, it will not be a problem for you. I actually have an additional whole house filter and water softener, at the water main, before the water gets to my RO system.
In case you don't know the sequence of filtration, here it is: First, the water goes through 3 pre-filters (the clear tubes you see in the picture), then through the Reverse Osmosis filter membrane (above the pre-filters), then through an optional post-filter (to remove any remaining desolved solids), then finally through an activated Charcol filter (to remove any remaining taste/odors in the water), before it is stored in the tank. The tank pressure is very good. It will fill your glass of water in 5-10 sec. (about 2-3 times longer than tap water at full).
I was very surprised how fast this one makes water (a full tank in about 2 hours). Mine at home takes at least 4 times as long. Beware that this system does not include a dispensing faucet, but I got one from the same company with a phone call. I was surprised that the faucet was not included, but they explained that many of their customers use this system to filter water for their fish tank. Ah Hah!
One last thing, almost all RO systems waste a lot of water. Like around 7 gallon for each gallon you actually filter and store. Now that sounds like a lot, but think about how many gallons you actually will use daily, and then you will realize you waste more just flushing the toilet every day! Maybe you will be clever enough to store the post-filter water in a holding tank and use it for watering, washing, cleaning, etc. This water is not dirty water, it just has a higher concentration of desolved solids.

(More customer reviews)This is a very nice unit, water tastes very good and once the filter clears (10gallons+ needs to run thru for that) it also gets a very respectable water output. The faucet is nothing to be ashamed of as well, unlike other/cheaper units.
The installation instructions, unfortunately, are not very accurate as they pertain to a different type of faucet. It wasn't problem here but it might be an issues to some people. Make sure to tighten adapter included on the valve as it is lose to allow removal if you have different pipe size than normal.
You won't need teflon tape on contrary to as indicated in other posts. All connections are compression fittings or have a nice rubber gaskets to eliminate need for teflon which might actually prevent you from screwing the caps tight enough for gasket to work properly.
Replacement filters. I ordered from different site since pricing on amazon is, unfortunately, somewhat high. I ordered from cfsco.net/waprrefipafo.html for much less.
I recommend this filter.

Max/Mini Replacement Filter Pack Review

(More customer reviews)The original filter pack had three equal size filters but the replacement pack I was sent had one filter that was physically larger than the other two. I had to request the company send me a couple of brackets (at no cost) to hold the larger filter and I had to redo some of the plumbing to make it work. The larger filter is probably better and it works fine but the extra work was unexpected and not indicated in the ad. I do not know if this was a temporary supply situation with them or if what they sent is now the normal replacement stack.

Watts 116001 Standard Faucet, AG Chrome Review

(More customer reviews)Ok, so my original faucet for this unit had a nice button on the tip to turn the water on and off. This made its easy for kids since they do not have to reach to the end of the sink. Unfortunately that original unit broke so I had to find a replacement. The ones at Home Depot look suspiciously cheap plus they didnt come with any piping. Lowes had a replacemenbt for $59.00 -- more that I wanted to spend. So I looked up the item number and found it here at Amazon plus free shipping.
Just hooked up the unit and sure enough its making a "deal breaking" water running sound coming from the air gap! Its driving me nuts!!! Arrrgggghhh!!!! Eager to figure out how these things work I took apart the old unit and discovered its just that -- and air gap presumably to prevent waste water from entering the discharge side. The old unit had a rather small air gap chamber. This unit obviously has a big air gap chamber thus the running water sound as the unit discharges waste water to the drain. I'm going contact Watts and find out if they have a solution. Right now, I'm planning on returning this noise maker but I'll give it a day. I say to buy a nother unit but I havent come up with a reasonable replacement...yet! Stay tuned!

(More customer reviews)Easy to install, excellent filtering and no loss of pressure after a few quarts. We previously had a Whirlpool R.O. system from Lowes and before that one from Sears. We had them for years and they both had problems. Every few months we had to replace something and not just the filters. Not fun to take apart, lots of hoses, etc. The Everpure system has no tank and only two lines, one in and one out. I have tested the water and it is actually cleaner than the old R.O. system.
Another huge advantage is the lack of pressurized tank. This system works with the water pressure you have in your cold water line. If you use the water to cook or draw water for two large dogs, as we do, it was frustrating to draw a few quarts and have the pressure drop to a trickle until the tank could be replenished. Everpure always has the same flow. In addition, this system doesn't waste water trying to make clean water as the R.O. system did.
We have had the Everpure for several months now and we would recommend it highly. It is everything I had hoped for.
