(More customer reviews)You gotta hand it to Maytag - they made replacing the water filter very simple. Took all of about 30 seconds from start to finish. And about 20 seconds of that was wiping up the water that dripped out of the old filter when I pulled it out, so the next change should go even better ;-)
We have a family of six and we drink water almost exclusively, so I went ahead and changed the filter at six months just like the owner's guide recommended. However, I could see no evidence that the filter was near its end of life and am convinced that I can get more use out of the filters than the suggested six months. I will try to keep an eye on things, but without a little window I really have no way other than flow to know what is going on.
And that is why I gave this a rating of four stars. The filter seems to work wonderfully and replacement is a breeze, but I would be happier if I could look at the state of the filter while it is in use.

It saved me some money since I can't find the filters locally and ordering through my furnace installer is much more expensive. When placing these filters within the plastic frame, (you must already have the frame, the frame does not come with the filter order) there are too many pleats for the available frame space, seems like an unnecessary waste?

Hamilton Beach True Air 05920 Blue Humidifier Filter Review

(More customer reviews)I have been using this humidifier for 5 years. Here's how I keep the filter fresh.
I fill the tank at night before bed, run it on low, and by the next night the tank is empty and the filter is all dry. I flip the filter, fill the tank, and start over again. If I need to add water more frequently (on a dry day or if I want higher humidity), I still have to LET THE FILTER DRY OUT and FLIP the filter BEFORE I add new water.
So, I run it 24/7, and it lasts about 7 to 8 weeks because
(1) I let the humidifier run until the filter is bone DRY for EACH tank of water.
(2) I flip the filter every time I put a new tank of water on it.
(3) I put the tank and tray in the dishwasher once every 7 to 10 days.
These are what the instructions say to do, and I have found it WORKS! I need two or three filters per season.
If you keep adding water without letting the tray and filter dry, your filter will get stinky and yellow in 2 weeks and you will be unhappy!
If you find the filter is soggy, let the humidifier run until it dries out. Make sure there is no water in the tank and tray, and it will dry out faster in the humidifer (20 - 30 minutes on high?) than in the air.
Don't be unhappy: let the filter dry out between tanks.

Save your money on this one. The plastic container is mayber worth 15.00, it seems i may have wasted my money on this one! You ask...does it keep up with the demand on once a week deposit....NO, and 4000 worms wont help that situation any either. Keep giving your poop to the garbage man, or bury it like my mom in law has been doing for centuries....that seems to work best of all.
