It blocks the inhalation of solvents in varnish and paint allowing me to work in confined areas that would otherwise cause problems - since it blocks these small vapor molecules I have full confidence that it can stop lead dust, asbestos particles, or virtually anything else you want to keep out of your lungs. This is my go-to filter for seriously hazardous situations. It's impressive in every way.
I came here to order more because the filter is starting to get gunked up from sanding dust particles and concrete. Well worth the money for this long lasting product.

Protects against concentrations of chlorine, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and hydrogen fluoride up to 10x the permissible exposure limits (PEL) with half face pieces, and up to 50x the PEL with full face pieces.
