Poulan Pro 25cc Gas Blower/Vacuum BVM200LE Review

Poulan Pro 25cc Gas Blower/Vacuum BVM200LE
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing worked pretty well for a while. It vac'd with moderate power and chopped leaves and twigs to a relatively fine mulch (I'd argue with the 16:1 claim, though). The blower was plenty powerful and I liked the fact that you could set the throttle and forget it. Not too heavy (except of course when you had a bag full of mulch weighing you down) and well balanced and easy to control. It clogged fairly regularly, but clearing the clogs wasn't too difficult.
The problem was that the plastic surrounding the impeller started to crack after the second season. This was (presumably) because of the necessarily harsh treatment that this part of the machine takes from the heavier items spinning and smacking the sides as they are being mulched. Then the cracks turned into gaping holes (greatly reducing the power, but at least partially fixed with duct tape). Then the plastic connector on the vac tube assembly completely broke. Now it is a barly passable blower that takes about 20 pulls to start. I think I'm going to switch to a two piece solution (walk behind vac and backpack blower). I just don't think that these combo units are built to last (I've now been through three, though admittedly this was the best of the lot). All of these machines just use too much plastic, and it breaks with use (and age).

Makita BBX7600CA Commercial Grade 4-Stroke 75.6cc Backpack Blower (CARB Compliant) Review

Makita BBX7600CA Commercial Grade 4-Stroke 75.6cc Backpack Blower (CARB Compliant)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After considerable research, I decided to buy the Makita BBX7600. I live in S. Florida on an acre with lots of trees and a good backpack blower is a must. I looked at Echo, Husquavarna, Redmax, Tanaka, etc. This blower is actually made by Robin Outdoor power equipment ([...]) under a private label arrangement with Makita. You may not have heard of them but they actually cater to the commercial market and their engines are made by Subaru. Subaru makes some of the finest small engines on the market. I've only used this blower a few times so far but it is powerful, smooth and quiet. I love the fact that you don't have to worry about two stroke oil and this baby starts on the first pull every time. It is slightly heavier than I thought, but not much different than other blowers with this size. I think the components on this unit have a slightly higher quality feel than what you'll find at your local big box retailer. It may just be the placebo effect but that's my observation.
There are not many reviews on this blower out there and one individual completely trashes the product and manufacturer. I would simply suggest you read ALL the reviews on other products posted by that individual and take that into consideration on your decision. This (so far) is a great product. I ordered this Tuesday night and it arrived Thursday - free shipping with amazon Prime. At $399 with free shipping, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Factory Reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 25.4cc Gas-Powered Variable-Speed Hand-Held Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher Review

Factory Reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 25.4cc Gas-Powered Variable-Speed Hand-Held Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher
Average Reviews:

After reading all the reviews I decided to take a chance with a reconditioned Ryobi blower. Why? Ryobi gas engines are some of the best in the business, bar none. I had one that was 20 years old. It only stopped working because one of the plastic gas lines deteriorated due to age. Other than that, the engine still ran strong.
The reconditioned unit arrived with all new attachments. The engine looked in new condition. No sign or smell of gas in the gas tank. The only downside was the casing was dirty and scratched on the bottom. This is a nit after a season of blowing grass clippings and leaves.
The engine kicked in with about 3 pulls the first time. One pull is all it took after the first start out of the box.
Hard to beat the price and value of this blower with an outstanding and relible reputation of the Ryobi gas engine.

This is a very powerfull unit. It even blows wet leaves. I can clear a 6-8 foot path very easily. It has started on the first pull every time. Having the gas and oil seperate makes life easier. It is not very loud and is very comfortable to wear. The tubes were a little tough twisting together. I would recommend this unit.

Factory Reconditioned Homelite ZR08580 26cc Gas Powered MightyLite Backpack Blower Review

Factory Reconditioned Homelite ZR08580 26cc Gas Powered MightyLite Backpack Blower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a Ryobi gas blower that wouldn't start. After replacing the plug and feeding it starting fluid, still no firing, so I went blower shopping. Consumer reports rated the Toro Ultra 12 Amp Electric Blower/Vacuum #51599 as the number one, beating out any gas or electric model, with more power at 235mph. So I bought one, with a 100 foot 14 gauge cord. It was powerful, but quite frankly dragging around a 100 foot cord was a challenge after growing accustomed to a portable gas driven unit.
I was considering this reconditioned Homelite gas powered back pack before buying the Toro electric so I decided to try it out. The entire unit looked brand new. The one feed tube could have a few scuffs on it from a little use, or it could just be from sliding the control cuff over it during assembly. It looked, smelled, and was wrapped in plastic just like new. It did have the word "recon" on the plastic shroud, the letters were clear, like they had been touched by a hot metal iron. Thought it was a logo impression at first. Ok on to performance.
Immediately after taking it out of the box, brought it outside, and put some fuel/oil mix in, pressed on the fuel bulb a few times, turned the large easy to read knob over to the choke setting, pulled it twice, and it fired up. Then I popped the unit on my back, and decided to try it out. My first impression was with the motor so close to my head, the noise became a factor. Not that it was louder than my Ryobi, but it was closer to my ears. Fortunately I have a set of NOISE CANCELING HEADPHONES FOR PC CD and MP3 (980409-0403).
The amount of air that was moved is more than the small hand held units, but after using the Toro electric it didn't seem like a lot, although I would consider it more than sufficient. The half throttle setting has a very pleasant whir to it that is much quieter.
After putting the unit on for the first time, you simply tug on the straps to snug it up to a comfortable fit. After using it for a while, it gets more comfortable, the harness settles to a natural fit, something I wouldn't mind wearing for extended use.
I love the extreme power of the Toro, and considering the price, it was a keeper. The Homelite is a backpack, and one I do not want to give up either. By the way, with a backpack, you do not have the flexibility that you have with a hand held; for instance clearing off the top of the boat cover from pine needles is difficult. A hand held you can raise it up over your head.
One last feature I wanted to comment on; this reconditioned model is (Non carb compliant) which as I understand it means that it does not pass California's stringent emission standards. To the green enthusiast in me, that is something worth being concerned about. To the motor head in me, less smog controls means more stable starts when cold, and more power as in more horsepower coming out of the same motor. I noticed the compliant models are now selling at Amazon for more money then these units new, so these recons may be, and I am not sure of this, but may be the last of the oldies but goodies. This is mere conjecture on my part, but is another reason why I am glad I got one of these, especially at such a nice price. I did notice the reviews had mentioned running problems with complaint new model just as I had anticipated.
So the Toro will come in handy when I am clearing out the gutters on the roof, due to the flexibility of the hand held, plus the Toro has metal blades, and leaf vacuuming/shreadding capability, and the Homelite does not do leaf vacuuming/shredding, as stated in the instructions, but does have the back pack feature, and does a great job of clean up after cutting the lawn. Both are keepers for sure. I was also pleased with the overall build quality on the Homelite, it didn't seem like a toy at all. It's built pretty solid, especially for a unit at this price point. I highly recommend getting one, before they once again, run out of them.

Poulan Pro BVM200VS 25cc 2-Cycle Variable Speed Gas Powered 200 MPH Blower/Vac With 10 to 1 Mulch Ratio Review

Poulan Pro BVM200VS 25cc 2-Cycle Variable Speed Gas Powered 200 MPH Blower/Vac With 10 to 1 Mulch Ratio

I bought this blower because it had the best specifications for blowers available in this price range. Air volume and air speed are 2 different things and both are important for good performance. I quickly learned that this blower achieves the rated 200MPH air speed only with the reducing nozzle attached.(look at the pictures closely). The nozzle makes the airstream rather small, which makes for slow going. It actually works better with the reducer removed. Overall, performance is pretty good for the money but reliability is another story. My unit was hard to start from day one. Once warmed up it would restart fairly easily until it got TOO warm, then it wouldn't start at all! Not very convenient if you make your living cutting grass and doing yard clean ups as I do. (I used this small blower just to clean off driveways after cutting)I had to carry my big backpack blower around as a backup for when the Poulan wouldn't start.
The last straw for me was when the pull cord broke...and that was after only 3 months of use!
To sum up let me just say "you get what you pay for". Spend just a little more and get a blower that will be reliable. Ive had good luck with both Echo and Tanaka products and will stay with these brands in the future.

Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower Review

Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I previously owned an electric blower and then I had the Poulan Pro PPB300E that worked fine for the first couple of times I used it. Then for the next two years it was very hard to start, the engine would not run properly and had to keep it running mingling with the throttle and choke, and when it ran it did not seem to blow as it should have. Now it finally gave its ghost, the engine locked up. Since it was not worth fixing it, I went out and bought the Husqvarna 125B
I had a few surprises:
- At the first touch I noticed how much lighter is than the Poulan. After mounting the air pipe and nozzle, although is so light, it feels "solid".
- The starting rope can be pulled very easily. In fact so easy that at the first pull, I put my back into it and pulled so hard that I reached the end of the rope probably and the handle just flew out of my hand. I know... you're not supposed to do that, but it didn't seem to have hurt it.
- It started at the third pull, which I think is great for a brand new motor.
- Thereafter, I stopped and restarted as I was cleaning the yard several times, and every time it started at the first pull.
- The air speed and the blowing pattern seem to be very good because the dirt blows away really fast, significantly faster than the other blowers I used.
- I love the throttle being mounted on the handle as it gives you nice control over the air speed, especially when you are close to the finish and try to pile up the dirt. Also I love that it has a "cruise control" lever, which you can move to get the desired speed and then you don't have to hold the throttle, which is helpful on larger areas.
I see nothing wrong or that I would liked changed yet, so the only question remaining is how long it will last.
One note: I really do not see what is the difference between the 125B and 125Bx. The 125BVx is the same but comes with a vacuum kit.
