(More customer reviews)I bought this saw for general use around my yard. For the money, its a great saw. I used it all day yesterday and it ran great. The only flaw I found was a cheap pull-cord setup that you need to be careful with. The pullcord housing and fly-wheel is all made of plastic...so I can tell Ill have to replace that at some point. Other than that, the saw runs great, and does a great job. FYI the saw does NOT come ready to go. Make sure you tighten the bar support bolts and add all the fluids. Great saw just to have at the house for occasional use.

Poulan Pro PP025 17-Inch 25cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Curved-Shaft String Trimmer with Split Shaft Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this trimmer. It is apparently manufactered by the same people as homelite and John Deere trimmers so can not expect too much quality--just a low price throwaway item to replace every year or two.
The first one arrived with a broken cover to the air filter area. Flimsy plastic cover. Called Amazon and recieved replacement--sent back original.
Replacement arrived as promised. Does not start-suspect defective fuel system(priming bulb pulls in air bubbles with gas). Called Poulan--Determined defective. Gave me name of local repair center. Didn't expect a long service life, but at least expect to work when first get it out of the box! Local independent repair service was fast and courteous. Gave them just the motor portion. On return started fine. Well balanced, not bad vibration. Shortly after started using, started running rough and smoking near string end. Swapped to an older attachment and finished job. Took in attachment for repair--the bearings had seized within 15 minutes of use! Will be a week before I get it back. Fortunately I have spare attachments from past trimmers that fit.
Will update with progress.

(More customer reviews)The trimmer arrived with a broken off choke adjustment (can't adjust choke to start engine) and a broken air box which holds the air filter and cover in place. The broken off parts were not in the shipping box so I have to assume that it was broken when it left the reconditioning facility. The trimmer may work fine, I don't know. My dissatisfaction is in the apparent lack of oversight in reconditioning. I think it's a gamble purchasing this trimmer.

(More customer reviews)First off let me say that i've never wrote a review before. I usually have luck with items and usually buy items based upon other reviews. This time I wasn't so lucky. I bought this item last year (June 2008). It ran fine for the summer/fall. I did everything I was supposed to do to winterize it (drain gas, oil, clean old grass clippings, clean air filter, unplug spark plug, etc...). Come April 2009, I add oil, gas, etc.. and the thing just wouldn't start. I tried everything but couldn't even get a spark from the engine. I called Poulan Pro but was never able to speak to a live person. I finally just brought it into an "authorized" poulan pro service shop, which I located on [...]. A few weeks later, they called me and told me my mower was ready and that there is a $143 charge and it's not covered under warranty. They said it was dirty inside and that they had to take apart the whole carburetor to clean it. From regular use, the whole carburetor got dirty and this caused it to stop working?? Now it is May 2009, the mower is running but who knows for how long. I will never buy another Poulan Pro product again.
In short, do not buy this. My last mower was a Toro and lasted me 8 years and I wish I had bought another. Go get a name brand mower like Toro or John Deere and you will be better off.

(More customer reviews)This saw arrived very quickly, and will satisfy my need for a back-up saw for clearing our recurring storm damage. I found the quality of the reconditioning lacking, however. This saw is a "self oiler". I'm sure this is intended to imply that the chain is automatically oiled while in use, but it also gets oil all over the operator. The saw arrived with the carburetor in need of significant adjustment - a problem the manual says requires return to a repair facility. I made a tool to perform the adjustment at home. The chain sent in a sealed package was too dull to use, but I sharpened it. These things should have been done at the reconditioning facility.

(More customer reviews)I'm on my second Wild Thing. The first lasted about 7 years and the second is going into its seventh year. I've worn out several bars and a half dozen or so chains. I've got 7.5 acres of Texas mountain cedar and live oak that I've been working my way through. I've had troubles getting them to start and run consistently at the start of the cutting season, but then I figured out that if I use fresh gas the problem disappears. It takes two pulls on full choke and two pulls on half choke to get it to start from cold, but then they run like a champ and will start on the first pull at half choke if you shut it down and then restart while it's still warm. Now admittedly it isn't a 3 or 400 dollar saw and won't last forever, but the fact is that at about $150 each with not a penny spent on maintenance I don't care. It does the job I bought it for and that's all I can ask.

(More customer reviews)I've read numerous complaints about the "tooless" tightening system that this saw is equipped with, and yes, it is a badly designed system (plastic parts that should be made of metal strip out too easily).
However, if your saw is under the two year warranty, chances are that Poulan will replace the tooless system with the traditional system that uses a screwdriver for chain tightening absolutely free. I called them on a Friday, got the old-style part by Tuesday. Saw works great now and tightening of the chain is still really easy.
If you're having probs, contact Poulan or go to [...]. i couldn't be happier with mine.

(More customer reviews)I bought this blower because it had the best specifications for blowers available in this price range. Air volume and air speed are 2 different things and both are important for good performance. I quickly learned that this blower achieves the rated 200MPH air speed only with the reducing nozzle attached.(look at the pictures closely). The nozzle makes the airstream rather small, which makes for slow going. It actually works better with the reducer removed. Overall, performance is pretty good for the money but reliability is another story. My unit was hard to start from day one. Once warmed up it would restart fairly easily until it got TOO warm, then it wouldn't start at all! Not very convenient if you make your living cutting grass and doing yard clean ups as I do. (I used this small blower just to clean off driveways after cutting)I had to carry my big backpack blower around as a backup for when the Poulan wouldn't start.
The last straw for me was when the pull cord broke...and that was after only 3 months of use!
To sum up let me just say "you get what you pay for". Spend just a little more and get a blower that will be reliable. Ive had good luck with both Echo and Tanaka products and will stay with these brands in the future.

The Poulan mower is ready for mulching, is reasonably light weight (about 20% lighter than the mower, having very similar specs, it replaced), and rolls very smoothly. I am unable to see the mulched clippings. This mower is a joy to use!

(More customer reviews)I have never written a review before but after using this piece of junk I felt compelled to do so. I own a smaller Poulan saw and liked it enough to buy the bigger one. The 46cc starts and runs great, no problem with the engine at all. It's the chain tensioning device that makes this saw really frustrating to use. Someone decided to "improve" the time tested method of tightening the chain by turning a screw, to this new plastic adjustment dial thing that you don't need tools for. It doesn't work! The adjustment never holds and I have to retighten the chain about every 15 minutes! I thought it was because the chain was new and needed to stretch but I have been using it for sometime now and the problem is getting worse. On more than one occasion this device has allowed the chain to come off during operation, a dangerous and anoying situation that caused damage to the chain and the saw housing. I spend more time fixing this saw than using it. I was a big fan but now I will not buy another Poulon. I wish they would have stuck with the old design which worked just fine and this would be a great saw. I guess Poulon never heard the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
