(More customer reviews)I don't know about your idea of air cleaning, but if a filter can pass very large airborne particles around its filter medium, like this one can around its unsealed edges, then I'd say it is poorly manufactured, deceptively advertised, and a health hazard to trust for providing clean air.
However, if breathing partially-cleaned air, with the particulate matter you wanted removed passing by this filter is OK, then this is a great filter for you!
BTW, to correct the poor manufacturing of this filter, remove the cardboard "screen" retainer on one side, exposing all edges of the filter. Then, with a good caulk sealant, lay a bead all around the four edges, making sure it adheres to both the cardboard wrap and the filter edges. It is a bit tedious, so allow an hour or two to do it like the factory should have done the job.
The filter medium is good, and - I assume - it performs to the rating specs claimed for the as-built filter. Just remember, a filter is only as good as is largest hole! In this case, that is a massive hole all around the edges!
