A table follows that statement with the gerson 1730 model in the table.
I purchased a couple of boxes because the cost was not too bad at around $8/box, and I can use them in the garage when woodworking, spraying some chemicals, cutting tile, etc. So I won't be wasting my money even if we don't get the flu. If one of my kids gets the flu, I will probably quarantine them to their room with a TV and game boy, and wear these when I am directly caring for them, along with a pair of gloves. In the hospital when entering or exiting a patient's room who had an airborne illness like the flu, we gowned, gloved and put on masks to protect ourselves. This respirator isn't guaranteed to keep you from getting the flu, but may help you be safe. Safer still is good hand washing frequently, and washing counters, doorknobs, and surfaces with bleach spray, etc.
If I were a pregnant woman, elderly person, or person with an underlying condition such as asthma, bronchitis, cancer, HIV etc. I would probably wear a respirator and perhaps even gloves in public. The mortality and complication rates among these populations from the flu is so much higher that more precautionary measures for this population is prudent. The FDA has approved the 3M 8612 model respirator, which is probably the one I would go with if I were in this population group and could afford to do so. If the cost of those is prohibitive, the Gerson 1730 would also be an option.

(More customer reviews)As stated, these are the MINIMUM requirements for protection. There are better, far more expensive respirators. This is where the issue is; due to the level of protection, it is called a respirator and as a general rule, respirators need to be professionally fitted for proper protection. Since these are masks (adjustable bridge with elastic), there is no fitting required for THESE N95 masks. For even better protection, use self adhesive medical tape to seal the edges and there are no issues.
PLEASE do NOT state "facts" unless you know they are true...

COLD WEATHER Mask Review

(More customer reviews)I have asthma, and we are currently in the midst of a long spell of freezing temperatures with sub-zero wind chills, and periods of snow every day. It's been brutal. I bought this some time ago, and since my scarf keeps falling off my nose, I decided to give it a try. It works real well. Mind you, it's not fashionable. I look like I'm going to rob the bank. (I don't wear it into stores), but it's kept me breathing warm air, while I'm trying to scrape ice off my windshield. The elastic keeps it in place, and that's a plus. I've been wearing it, even after the car warms up. It's turned out to be a good buy; I'm going to pick up a spare.

(More customer reviews)I know this is a paint and pesticide mask, but its a grat woodworking mask as well. I have been a avid woodworker for over 25 years, and wish someone would have given me this mask long ago. Since I am not getting any younger and fine particle dust has become a real concern to woodworkers I believe this is an excellent mask if you do or do not use a central dust collection system while working with wood. I know there are cheapr masks out there that are rated for woodworking but do not filtrate down to the micron level of this respirator, the replacement cartridges for this mask are resonable and it washes up with soap and water when needed.

(More customer reviews)This mask is tight. I suppose it needs to be to keep the bad stuff out. Its kind a one size fits all since its made of really stretchy rubber. It takes a bit of practice learning how to breathe properly while wearing. REMEMBER to remove the stopper on the filter. You can't breathe at all if it is left in place. A cool feature is that when you breathe in the fresh air coming through the filter defogs your eye glass. Of course when you breathe out they have a tendency to fog up again. Plus it comes with a green military style carry bag.
I feel safer owning a few of these and keep them in my garage. Hopefully me and my family won't ever need them. Pretty cheap insurance.

This is a brand new in the box civilian model gas mask. It is designed to keep you alive in the event of a nuclear, biological or chemical attack. It is imported by Evirstar Defense Products and has a model number of GP-5.If comes with a new unopened filter and inserts for antifogging.It even comes with a very cool military looking bag with long strap. My daughter immediately discarded the mask and made off with the bag. Its definately cool if you are into that sort of thing.It is further designed so that when you inhale the filtered air clears your eye ports of moisture. Very smart.I have small adult and large adult, so please let me know which one you would like. You generally want this mask to fit tightly so as to exclude any outside air from entering around the rim. However they tend to fit smaller than they are. Im barely a large but still wear an extra large.To be more exact. keep in mind these masks are stretchy fit all rubber.approximately 63 cm is an adult small. (24.8") Plus or minus a bitapproximately 68 cm is an adult large (26.8") Plus or minus a bitapproximately 70 cm is considered an adult large (27.5") Plus or minus a bit.We dont have any adult medium. Also if you want to measure your head measure from under your chin to the highest spot on your head round. Do not just measure your forehead.Also I now have childrens masks so please state if you would like that.

(More customer reviews)I've used this respirator for over a year when using very strong cleaning fluids at home and airbrushing enamel, lacquer, and acrylic paints (some of them highly toxic). It has performed extremely well and has not let me down--I have not smelled or tasted any of the fumes at all. The mask is comfortable to wear for short or medium periods of time (up to two or three hours or so, in my case) and is fairly lightweight--I have not needed to wear it for longer, so I can't say how comfortable it would be after eight hours. It does not obstruct my vision and is compatible with my eyeglasses (a big plus for me). The straps are easy to adjust and allow you to get a good airtight seal while maintaining comfort. Breathing through the filters is a bit hard, but easier than with other respirators I have worn. The only drawback I've had is moisture condensation inside the mask, but I have yet to find a respirator that doesn't have this problem.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this mask, with the pink 3M model# 2091 P100 RESPIRATOR FILTERS 3M - 2091 - 3M P100 Particulate Filter, for many years for woodworking, construction demolition and drywall sanding. It's like breathing through a HEPA filter. Keeps dust, mold, pollen and other airborne debris out of your respiratory tract MUCH BETTER than those cheap paper masks you find in hardware and Home stores. It's also very lightweight and comfortable for day-long use. A pair (2 needed) of replacement filters are cheap at around $5. The mask comes in small, medium and large sizes to fit your face for a good airtight seal against your skin. I'd have to find a new line of work and different hobbies if not for these babies.
